Valentine's Day

While cleaning up my craft room the other day I discovered a whole heap of leftover odds and ends, in all shapes and sizes. One of my worst traits is that I'm a hoarder and hate to throw anything out, so I decided I needed a way to store these items for 'later use'. I decided to separate all these little bits and pieces - including buttons, ribbons, paper off-cuts, loose brads and rhinestones - and store them in colour groups for easy reference later on. This is perhaps one of the best ideas I've ever had!

With Valentine's Day just around the corner I decided it was time to make a card for my special someone. Knowing I had these odds and ends to use up, I began rummaging through the newly sorted products and pulled out all the red and black items I wanted to use. It took me next to no time at all to find coordinating products, since they were all sorted according to colour.

I wanted to keep the card fairly simple, as Valentine's Day isn't usually something we really celebrate, so I chose simple white cardstock and a few embellishments in red and black. I made the first card (the heart button card) and was on a roll so whipped up another one, sticking to the same colour scheme (Love card). For the second one I used a Pilot Frixion Ball pen to write the word love on the front. Frixion pens are ideal for papercrafting because you can erase any mistakes! So now I have two simple, but still meaningful, cards to choose from, and my scrap products that used to cause me so much grief are neatly organised - mission accomplished!

NOTE: These cards also appear in a Pilot Pen Australia ad on page 36 of Scrapbooking Memories Vol 13 No 3.
