Every so often a contributor to Australian Fine Art & Decorative Painting takes my breath away with a project they submit for publication. The one featured here - 'Jack' is a graphite drawing by Karen Hull. It's done on drafting film - which not a lot of artists are familiar with - and gives a superb finished result. Karen will be a regular contributor to our magazine and she also works with coloured pencils and again, these have to be seen to be believed. I am inspired to give drafting film a go - I've found it in pad form at a large office supply store. Have a go and surprise yourself!
Sneak Peek
Growing up in Tasmania and being surrounded by the sea has made me just a touch blase about it but his glorious painting by Elena Parashko featuring in Fine Art & Decorative Painting Vol 17 No 7 - on sale April, 2010 connected me to it straight away and I could just imagine being there - with a beach umbrella, a good book and an alarm clock to wake me! Oh, OK, maybe a few treats as well! I always believe there has to be some emotion stirred within me by a painting for me to like/love it and this one did exactly that!
