My husband and I are looking forward to a trip to Hawaii in the near future. Having never been there before we are naturally excited about our new adventure. I've been searching the internet looking for all things relating to patchwork and quilting, not to mention FABRIC!
I'm really interested to see some of their traditional quilts including antique ones so if anyone has any great MUST SEE places they know of, please let me know. I realise that we won't have time to see them all and we are only going to two of the islands, O'ahu and Kaua'i - but I sure will have a good try!
I'd love to meet a local group to expand my knowledge on the traditions of quilts in Hawaii. When I visit somewhere, I like to see places from the view of the locals, rather than just from a tourist's perspective.
The camera's already packed with spare SD cards to make sure I don't miss any photo opportunities. I'm hoping to have some great photos to share with AP&Q readers when we get back.
PS: I know my flower is not a hibiscus, but it is a tropical flower - known as a Bauhinia or orchid tree - from my garden.
Now how many days to go? 42, 41, 40, 39... I can't wait!

Hi,
My husband and I went to Hawaii 2 years ago just for a holiday, actually for a big birthday of mine??
Saw lots of local crafts but there isn't as much as what there use to be apparently.
I had been there before for a short stop over but I was a Nanny then and time was very limited.
This time was fantastic, I love the place as much to say if I had to live in some other place than our beautiful Australia...Hawaii would be it. Have a wonderful time, relax and enjoy
Aloha
